Lynx mentioned they also want to have a better native support which means I see it realistically as a no option at the moment for my class because itĭoes not improve fast enough for what I need here. I think they work on it - it just is very slow. I cannot see Indigo of Yafray or any other do this at that speed. Maybe you want to check out the video at the link Glenn posted. When Blender is free that should not be of any concern to them - they still would be able to sell their render engine. This at the end means no way to sell the render software when the host application is not being purchased.
Tiger Studio is propably not going to buy 4 licenses for it which would mean 20.000 dollars in addition to what VRay or finalrender might cost another 4 to 5k. I miss a little of business feeling in your post. Why should it be a problem if Blender is free? I think this is very shortsighted to say.
